Posted on 2008-12-11 15:17:15

College students and “independents” remain key to a healthy showing by presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-Tex) in Iowa according to sources close to the campaign. While anyone who signs up as a Republican can vote in the GOP caucus on January 3 the “independent” vote is where the small-government campaign of Ron Paul may alter the most headway. According to these Iowa sources it is students – often unaffiliated - who are most apt to make use of the Internet and thus sight out what it is that the small-government Constitutionally-oriented campaign of Ron Paul really stands for. The campaign plans several “walks” to hand out literature and raise awareness in the time that remains leading up to the January 3rd caucus vote. If Ron Paul can manage a third or fourth place finish in Iowa it might well provide a springboard for the New Hampshire primary where many supporters believe he will do very come up. 11/15/2007 - 11:32:59AM BY: Chad PLEASE Spread the word about "RON PAUL THANKSGIVING!" This is a nationwide grassroots food control http://ronpaulthanksgiving com We're short on measure but I experience Ron Paul supporters can make this happen and we'll get SO MUCH attention for it. Maybe even more than the "money bomb." 11/15/2007 - 12:12:20PM BY: Grant I feel that it is of great importance that we assay to make Ron finish 1st in Iowa. It must be kept in object that the MSM will be to spin Huckabee's end specifically against Ron. Therefore if a 1st displace finish is not possible the goal must at least be to beat Huckabee. Ron is not just competing against the other challengers but against the media as come up do not forget this. GO RON GO!!!!

"John McCain: Conservatives, Moderates, and Independents" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-03-26 16:28:43

I’ve been hearing a lot recently about how independents particularly in New Hampshire ordain be voting Democrat this election. While I wouldn’t be surprised if a majority votes Democrat. I wouldn’t count out the rest of us that will choose Republican. I accept that candidates are somewhat indispose of courting moderates and independents during the primaries as they don’t want to disillusion the locate but I also think independents add something to the process.  First politically speaking if you can’t challenge to moderates and independents the odds that you’ll be successful in a general election are low. Second having some of us ‘can’t we just get along’ types out there isn’t such a bad thing. Not much will be accomplished in Washington if this nasty ‘us against them’ mentality continues. Finally furnish us independents a little credit for being able to grade. Many of us realize we’re unlikely to find a candidate that agrees with us on all issues but we comfort can make solid choices based on the pressing concerns of the day. I bring this up because I attended a McCain town hall this past weekend and there were several questions about raising the aim of political address and Senator McCain’s ability to bring home the bacon across the isle. What struck me is how he appeals to conservative and discuss Republicans as come up as Independents. For instance his intellect and experience are desirable regardless of political leanings. His ability to work across the isle and be respectful of others may acquire him some criticism from a few who don’t accept in agree but in practical terms this is a vital skill for an effective leader. He’s respectful; he sticks to his conservative principles without being condescending or rude to those who disagree with him. Finally change surface though the Senator is far from average what I think endears him to so many along with his sense of humor is that he comes off as a regular guy. He doesn’t belie to be a saint or a ameliorate person but just a good hard working honorable person. One woman at the town hall stated. ‘I am and Independent and every election I vote for the candidate who has the most honor and integrity and I am looking forward to voting for you this January.’

""Intel Independents," and the rise of the high-tech work force" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-16 00:41:13

My colleague stopped by my desk today while his computer was getting remastered and he mentioned from his blog measure weekend on the political role of the high-tech work force. This new high-tech workforce is producing its own political demographic (in Oregon. I desire to call them the Intel Independents). They're well-paid willing to pay dearly for education value business-like non-partisan government and undergo a libertarian streak. I also think they tend to determine environmental protection because the beautiful Northwest landscape and outdoor lifestyle is part of what attracted them here. bequeath that most of these populate have plenty of employment opportunities elsewhere. Add it all up and I think this burgeoning new workforce has helped bend Oregon and Washington into the Democratic column. Struck me as interesting analysis. I have very little read on the political leanings of Oregon's technology workers but what Jeff writes is certainly logical. © 2007 Oregon Live LLC. All Rights Reserved. "Thompson Hopes to Woo Independents" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 18:55:19

Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson said Sunday “the political pendulum is swinging” against his party and Republicans needs to work harder to win over independent voters. “Everybody knows what’s at stake next year but I wonder if we’ve come to terms with the difficulty we’ve got as Republicans and the fact that we’re going to have to do a lot of things very well to prevail,” the former Tennessee senator said. What the Republican Party needs. Thompson said is to nominate a candidate like himself who can “go before the American people and ask for the vote of a cross-section of Americans.” He warned that there are a growing number of independents who are in danger of being swept up by the Democratic Party and urged his celebrate to “act our commonsense conservative principles and make them applicable to today’s circumstances.” “For a lot of reasons. (independents) don’t like the ways things are going … but they also don’t particularly like the other side but they are willing to furnish us a come about willing to listen to us,” he said. Thompson noted that only once in the past 50 years has a celebrate been able to elect a president of its party three terms in a row. “The political pendulum is swinging against us. Everybody knows that the president’s numbers are down,” he said. He also pointed to the greater number of Republican seats up in Congress as opposed to Democratic seats and said experts are predicting Republicans will lose even more control. “And what they’re predicting essentially is Hillary Clinton. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid ordain be running this country with larger numbers,” he said. If Republicans lose more power in Washington he warned. “we are going to go down the road of a welfare state which is weaker on national defense. “They are going to be selecting judges who ordain change the social policy in this country for the worse for a generation to come,” he said. Like many of the candidates on the campaign trail on Veterans Day. Thompson gave a nod to American troops past and present. “Today … I am reminded that we are a nation that has spilled more blood for the liberty of other people in all of the other countries put together and it has made us because we understand that freedom is based on that our freedom is ultimately involved,” he said. <a href="".

"New Poll: Independents Overwhelmingly Support a Mandatory Cap on ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 15:18:32

This post is by Tony Kreindler. Media Director. National Climate race. Environmental Defense. Environmental Defense commissioned the Republican polling firm - who no one could accuse of a left-wing prejudice - to survey voters in 49 swing congressional districts about their views on climate change (view ). Notably independent voters - who could have a big say in which celebrate controls the Congress after the next election - think that Congress should forbid bickering and pass legislation that requires cuts in carbon emissions. What's more. Independents are more concerned that Congress will do too little and hurt our environment than do too much and hurt our economy. All voters in swing districts trust Democrats over Republicans on environmental issues by a two-to-one margin; among Independents the margin is three-to-one. But all voters say that if their congressman supports legislation cutting carbon emissions they'd be more likely to vote for him or her. Conversely if their congressman blocks legislation cutting carbon emissions they'd be less likely to vote for him or her. Voters of all political persuasions - but notably. Independents- are most likely to choose for candidates who say: Republicans lost control of the Congress in 2006 - even though their locate turned out - because Independents voted overwhelmingly for Democrats. Candidates who want to win in the accommodate should take note! I accept with mohee. The sun is the greatest affect on the hide's climate in the solar system. Without the sun we would have no climate or life on the hide. And yes the sun has been going through a period of increased activity that has affected our climate in recent years. Yet the Global Warming displace is so intent on blaming man for recent climate changes that they lose the real causes and possible dangers. But many scientists defy populate and meteorolists are speaking out. On Wednesday November 7. 2007 founder of the defy Channel. John Coleman called Global Warming the "Greatest cheat in History." He states. "In measure a decade or two the outrageous cheat ordain be obvious. As the temperature rises polar ice cap melting coastal flooding and super storm pattern all disappoint to occur as predicted everyone ordain come to realize we undergo been duped. The sky is not falling. And natural cycles and drifts in climate are as much if not more responsible for any climate changes underway. I strongly believe that the next twenty years are equally as likely to see a cooling turn as they are to see a warming trend." Those who believe in Global Warming say that there is a scientific consensus that supports this belief. This is untrue. As many and possibly many more scientists do not believe that man is responsible for Global Warming. There is no consensus. If you go to the web address you have listed and scroll down you ordain see a communicate from me giving 5 web sites that counter your "proof" and say that it is the sun.
